What Has Made Me Cheerful This Week?

Yet another week has sped past in a flurry of school runs, rain and picking up (lots) of puppy poopy.  But a lot of changes have happened in the fast paced week.

With the arrival of October, much Halloween discussion has started on Facebook.  Some people have even dared to start discussions on the 'C' word.  In our house we are not allowed to mention the 'C' word until after J1's birthday in November.

The heating is scheduled to come on for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening - just to take the chill off.

The 'Winter Warmer' recipes have been cracked out of the cook books in preparation for walking in from the cold to a smell of slow cooked meals to melt in the mouth.

Yes, a season has truly changed this week.

One thing has stayed the same however.  That is, it's Thursday and time to think about things that have made me cheerful this week.  This is a blog hop with Mummy from The Heart - if you need lifting hop on over and read some other happy and grateful posts.

So, what has the last seven days meant for me?

* I participated in Race for Life and it was truly inspiring.  I was also very happy with my time!

* J2 and I have been baking this week.  We made fairy cakes from 'Jo Wheatley A Passion From Baking'.  I made the cakes and J2 did the toppings (well a few he lost interest after that) but they were all yummy.  There are many more recipes in this book that just look amazing and I can not wait to try them out.

* The Puppy is settling well.  She is very playful and eating well.  She is getting used to sleeping downstairs.  Now she has had her first set of injections she can go out in the garden - which means less poop hunting indoors.

* A couple of writing opportunities have come to light which is very exciting.

* I purchased my Mumsnet Blogfest ticket and am very excited about seeing Mush Brain Ramblings, The Digital Baby and Older Mum in a Muddle in November for a reunion.  One of my best school friends also said she is hoping to attend, if she does it will be the first time we have seen each other for about ten years.

We have quite a busy seven days approaching so hopefully there will be lots to be cheerful about next week too.

    1. A Shih Tzu! She has just turned 9 weeks old. One of the writing opps came from an old school friend and the other from twitter. Just finding my feet with twitter - it's the time element for it all that I struggle with.x

  3. Well done with the race for life!
Having a dog has really helped me connect with and appreciate the seasons. As the homily goes, there is no such thing as bad weather on,y inappropriate clothing.
I am going to the Mumsnet bogging event too - with trepidation, it is my first ever blogging event :s

    1. Thank you! I agree, I do not mind the cold weather if I am in suitable attire! In the winter I am always glad of my old ski jacket lol!
If Mumsnet is anything like Britmums it will be fantastic - no need for trepidation everyone is so friendly! You can always email me (see my contact page) and we can arrange to meet up. The fab Older Mum in a Muddle and Mush Brain Ramblings are going too!

  4. Fab week with your run, and poopy puppy poo - hope she is settling in well. I need to get baking with Little A! And I am also excited about the blogging conference too - it was an impulse decision on my part. X

    1. Yes puppy is settling in well - I am happier that she can go out in the garden at least now - it is slowly reducing the amount of poop hunting required lol! So pleased you made the impulse decision will be so good to see you again and get more inspired by another conference :-)

  7. Such a lovely positive post, it sounds like you've had a fab week. I was looking at the agenda for the blogfest conference yesterday. There are some amazing speakers. I'd love to see Liz Jones, I think she's fab!

    1. I need to have a good old look at the Agenda. I think for Mumsfest they ask you beforehand what you want to attend, unlike BM where you just picked as they were approaching. You should come!x

  8. What a thoroughly positive week you've had. This has inspired me to try and get back on the 'reasons to be cheerful' bandwagon, it always lifts my spirits to write and read others. Glad the puppy is going well....the first 3 months are the hardest, honest!

  11. We are guilty of starting to discuss the C word! It's a must with all these kids though, takes military precision planning!

Congrats on completing the race for life, that's wonderful!

I'm looking forward to getting my baking hat on and trying out some new Autumnal recipes with the kids and practicing our winter baking!

Good luck with the writing opportunities, that sounds very exciting! xx

    1. The Hubby and I have had a few brief 'secret' discussions on ideas for the kiddos when they have arisen - especially regarding things for J1 - it is not easy to come up with suitable ideas for him so thought has to be had quite a lot.

My next baking attempt is going to be Raisen and Oat cookies.x
